DAY 67

DAY 67

TREE 73

I was lucky to be invited to Norman’s parents’ place again for their family’s weekly Sunday meal. The food was great, the water nice, and the company good. I even got to play a couple games of euchre. After the game Norm was going to walk home through the woods so I joined him to find a tree. After we had walked along the edge of the lake for most of the path, Norman pointed out this old craggy tree with large branches, some dying, with a duck box on the trunk. He said he had always thought that would be a good tree to climb. So he headed on and I headed up. The beginning climb was pretty standard, easy with low branches, but they were big around and harder to hold. I got to about up as high as I could by the trunk and after looking around, determined to head out on one of its large sprawling limbs. I transferred down a limb to even further out and was a little scared without much to hold onto. I tied my tag and then looked over at Norman’s house. I could see him in his garden and yelled his name. He didn’t hear me so I just sat a little longer enjoying my vantage point over the beautiful surroundings. My climb down was pretty scary. I decided to stay on that lower branch which took a lot of thigh squeezing and belly scooting. But I made it down. Another good challenging climb.

6-10-08:  Oh man!  I didn’t sleep too well last night.  The itching wouldn’t stop.  I am getting desperate here.  But I just did some research and it looks like there isn’t a whole lot I can do.  I just have to wait out the reaction.  My only hope is that it clears up faster than slower.  There is Prednisone, a corticosteroid, but that shit is scary.  The possible side effects from that are as follows:

Major

[edit] Minor

EEK!  Right?

So needless to say my climb yesterday was… how do I put this… crappy.  I climbed a tiny little tree in my parents’ front yard and only got up 8-10 feet.  It was almost dark and I couldn’t stay still to take a picture.  I took one with flash and then made a video.  I actually kinda like the video.  At least the cicadas were there to lighten the mood.
