DAY 65
06.08.07
TREE 71After a hectic and busy day preparing for Magic at the Mount, and installing my bodies around the grounds, I decided I needed to climb before it got dark. Wanting to climb near to home, I chose the same tree along the main drive that I used to install one of my exoskeletons. A nice big, sprawling tree dark from the morning storm. The climb itself was not too challenging, but I got very high, about 10 feet or less from the very top. The night is beautiful, and it feels great to see my installed work below me. I paused at the top and just thought that this climb was very satisfying and how it raised my spirits higher.
6-8-08: The 8th of June last year was quite hectic. Casey Hornung helped me put up this huge ladder into this tree to install that body. Then later that night I climb it without a ladder and easily get to that spot and much higher. I didn’t need the ladder, but, I really appreciated Casey’s help. It was hot that day, like today. And Casey sweats a lot. I wrapped him one night too. At one point he punctured a hole in the tape at his elbow and a stream of sweat came pouring out. It was awesomely gross.
Today I went canoeing with Norman, Gus, Hope, Dave, and Melissa. And some dogs. I got totally burned which is actually helping the poison ivy itch. But it’s not helping much else. My ass hurts too because we found two awesome rope swings from trees along the way. On the second one, I was the guinea pig and swung on this tiny rope into shallow waters. I came down with force into rocks and my right butt cheek hit. Eventually I’ll be okay. It’s going to take some time, but eventually, someday, I will be healed and feel like a million dollars. Right now I feel like a red nickel.
As for yesterday’s climb… I waited till about 10 pm. I was at the McChesneys’ for Dean’s graduation party. I grabbed my camera and went back behind the pool and climbed this tree. When I first got started I saw a hairy vine attached to the trunk and thought, ” Aw Fuck! Here we go again!” But it turned out to be Virginia Creeper. Thank god! So I climb up near the top and started to try to get a picture. Some of the teenagers down in the pool and in the yard spotted the blinking light of my camera. They started to make a commotion and freak out. One kid determined the only explanation could be aliens. Hearing all this I began to shake the top of the tree. That got a good reaction. It also got my sweat dripping and my ivy spots itching. I made a little video, then I climbed down and jumped back in the pool. Good party!
