DAY 42
05.16.07
TREE 48Expecting to go out last night I waited to climb. But plans fell through. I ended up taking Norman’s beginner clay class which was great, but it didn’t end until 9PM. It was dark and the storm brought in cool weather so I chose to climb on one of the trees I’ve had my eye on near the Loftus House. A little before midnight I headed out and climbed the tree right next to the street light. The climb itself was relatively easy but extremely rewarding. I got up very high and the branch-to-branch mobility was excellent. The streetlight also added a nice, cool light to help me along the way. I climbed down a totally different way than I went up. Climbs like that are always good.
5-16-08: Again, I didn’t take my camera to climb the above tree so the image is from the next day. I think it would have been nice to have a picture that helped to describe that cool light from the street lamp and how it filtered through the leaves. But alas…
And, since this introduces you to my pottery beginnings I’ll soon unveil my pots as the time deems it necessary.
Yesterday was a nasty, wet day. The rain was not letting up so I suited up in my rain jacket and pants and headed out to the housing development across the street. I crossed the high grass and my shoes filled with water. Luckily it wasn’t too cold and it felt kinda good. I think I am running out of options over in this area since I’ve been here so many times. I found a small hackberry tree that is right next to the large tree I climbed using two smaller trees to climb up and then climb down. At the top I had a great reclining seat where I took some pictures and a video. Enjoy:
One thing about this video… I can’t believe how much southern twang I hear in my voice. Where did that come from and when did it get there?
